Department: Board of Directors
Allison Smith is a lifelong resident of Mason County. She grew up on the North Shore of Hood Canal where her father Allan Sande co-owned Sande Boatworks in Belfair. She remembers her father bringing home a new boat each spring to use through the season. Both Allison and her children graduated from North Mason High School. She recalls when she was young, her and her friends use to sit at the snack bar that was located between the old Thriftway grocery store and Belfair Drug store looking out the window at Highway 3. She said, “we knew who owned and drove every car that drove past. At the time, we had only 64 in my graduating class – times have changed.”
Allison spent her career working in Kitsap and Pierce counties, but felt Shelton was where she belonged. She came to the Olympic College Shelton Campus as their site director in 2014.
She said, “I truly feel that my “job” is to advocate for the students of OC Shelton as well as to support the entire community by providing great educational opportunities for all!”
She has been with the EDC since 2014 or 2015 and her favorite part is “ the fact that all of us are trying to make Mason County a successful contributor to our area by providing jobs and opportunities for all!”
