Belco Forest Products Unveils $2.5 Million Expansion: A Transformative Leap Toward Efficiency and Sustainability

Belco Forest Products, a renowned manufacturer of preservative-treated exterior wood trim, has successfully completed a significant expansion of its headquarters facility with a $2.5 million investment. This expansion, strategically timed to coincide with the company's 45th anniversary, highlights Belco's dedication to operational enhancement and sustainability.

This project, funded by the Washington State Community Economic Revitalization Board (CERB) and supported by the Economic Development Council of Mason County (EDC), saw the infusion of $2.5 million to facilitate the construction of a 15,000-square-foot building addition and the allocation of an additional six acres of asphalt for storing and shipping finished goods. The primary objective was to revolutionize Belco's manufacturing process, focusing on efficiency improvements and accelerated customer shipping.

President and CEO Bill Staley underscores the comprehensive impact of this expansion, emphasizing its role in consolidating operations, reducing costs, improving efficiency, and aligning with sustainability goals to minimize the carbon footprint. The new square footage is strategically situated on Belco's primary site in Shelton, Washington, optimizing support for shipping and storage processes.

This expansion signifies more than just physical growth; it is a strategic initiative to transform operations for the benefit of customers and the environment. Belco Forest Products, established in 1978, has been a steadfast producer of preservative-treated exterior millwork for residential and commercial construction. The company's commitment to evolution and excellence is evident in this completed expansion, promising customers a higher standard of quality and a reduced environmental impact.

In a celebratory event, officials from the Port of Shelton, CERB, EDC, Mason County, and the Shelton-Mason County Chamber of Commerce gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The Port collaborated with Belco, securing a $500,000 grant and $1,500,000 in low-interest funding from CERB for warehouse expansion, site improvements, and job creation. The expansion is estimated to generate 38 jobs over the next five years.

CERB, with a focus on creating private sector jobs through infrastructure financing, plays a pivotal role in supporting local governments in fostering new business development and expansion. Belco Forest Products' completed expansion, supported by these partnerships, reinforces its position as a leader in the industry and reflects an investment in the company's future success.
