Mason County EDC Secures $30,000 ADO Grant Writer Program Award for Economic Development

Shelton, WA – February 26, 2024 – The Mason County Economic Development Council (EDC) is thrilled to announce the award of a $30,000 grant through the WA Department of Commerce, Associate Development Organization (ADO) Grant Writer Program. This vital support, allocated by the Department of Commerce, ensures that distressed rural communities like ours are not left behind in the broader economic landscape.

The grant is designed to bolster economic development by supporting professional grant writing expertise, aligning with Mason County EDC's strategic goals. It will allow the organization to identify, apply for, and secure additional grants that are crucial for the community’s growth and long-term sustainability.

"This grant represents not just financial support, but a belief in the potential of Mason County," said Joe Schmit, Chair of Mason County EDC. "On behalf of Mason EDC, I’d like to specifically recognize Representative Travis Couture, for his commitment to economic growth in Mason County by sponsoring the legislation which created this program during the 2023 legislative session.” “We would also like to thank Terri Drexler, ADO Grant Writer Program Manager, for her support and the Department of Commerce for prioritizing rural communities. Their efforts ensure we have the tools

necessary to continue our progress and achieve our vision for economic development." The grant writer will focus on projects that support housing, improve and build infrastructure, and enhance job training and technical education. The EDC acknowledges the critical support of its Board of Directors.
